Merlune & Daakoon – No Place Like Home LP
Genre: trip-hop, downtempo, dub
Label: Dusted Wax Kingdom

favorite tune (well, one of them):

If you’re new to netlabels, and you’re into downtempo.. well Dusted Wax Kingdom is the place for you. I think it’s my favorite netlabel ever, with around 100 releases so far! Sure, with such a number of releases not each one is really good, but No Place Like Home is perfect. 21 tracks, great atmosphere – cinematic beats, dark trippy samples, and storytelling is what I love about music. Mr Scruff and Ninja Tune comes to head when thinking of this “storytelling”.
In short: get your headphones on and go for a long walk around the city with Merlune & Daakoon’s album spinning.

Zoe.LeelA – Queendom Come
Genre: Electro Pop?

Cool album, well produced: female vocal over electro, triphoppy beats. For sure Zoe.LeelA will have lots of followers;) Well, in general for me this is a good 6 track album, but one tune is superb, I can play it again and again – Departuring Myself (in player above). Somehow reminds me of Timo Maas ft. Kelis – Help Me, remember that one?

Ha! This guy is great. 25 years old producer from US, released a couple of free albums. This one is kind of archive of his works from 2005-2009, available on Jamendo (on his website you can find other, full albums). Wait, I should have placed this album in the first place of this list. I can feel here Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, electro + blues, soundtrack from Matrix, some funky party? One track after another is so.. genuine. Just check it!

Can I compare this guy’s tunes with Amon Tobin’s works from around 2003? Well yes, why not! From album’s press release:
“Blending exotic, nomadic beats with a myriad of other influences to create an EP which shows yet another level to the producer’s repetoire, Damscray continues to show that experimental, electronic music a genre whose surface has barely been scratched.”
For me? A killa EP!

After Dusted Wax Kingdom here’s my next all-time-fav netlabel: Hungarian Budabeats. I wasnt sure which album to choose, there are a couple of really good once! But Crookram with track called Hostile, opening this album.. give me shivers on back every time I listen to it. Strictly triphoppy, emotional short EP. Check Budabeats, check Crookram!

Great electronic jazz album. Reminds me of Cinematic Orchestra, seriously. Sometimes smooth, sometimes disturbing 55 minutes. Im surprised its free! So share it

This label is worth recommending if you’re into glitch-hop, instrumental beats, etc. And Grillo, guy from Italy does really good job here. “Be Aware” in player above is such a cool track, isn’t it?! Check his other works on soundcloud.

A kind of mysterious person, Mr Jefferson is! Let me cite his label DedPop :

So here you are, first 8 releases that I’m into and want to share with you.
Wait, you say, where is drum’n'bass?? Only this slow bullshit? The truth is that there are very little good DNB albums for free. There are quality tracks, singles, that’s true, but not too many albums (so here comes Bake The Break, right?). Maybe I will dig some free DNB album from my harddrive for next part of 8 Best Free Nelabel Albums, so stay tuned.

It’s official – our first two albums are online.
For those who want links right now – its The Urban Bakery 1 and City Flavor 1.

I’ve been preparing to start my own netlabel for two years now. Since that time, last months of hard (seriously) work and countless sleepless hours, I present you these two EPs. Hopefully some of you appreciate it and stay with us, get in touch, share, remix, spread the love. I wouldn’t make it so far and so good without help:

The Night – for discussion, ideas, technical issues and of course music.
Konnekt – for professional + positive attitude, help with overall quality of music and graphics.
MXC – for great liquid music, melody oriented style.

Hi there! This is the very first post @ Bake The Break. Who are we and what is BTB? The main idea is to serve you…

Yummy downtempo and beats, crispy drum’n'bass!

We love spicy, fresh, interesting stuff.
Best part is that our music is free, you can copy it, share it with friends, play in a radio, even remix and use commercially (but first check About to see what we mean by “commercially”). In case you fall in love with our label you can pay whatever you want for albums, support our artists and the label.
